Sometimes we get in a slump and just have to pick ourselves up because no one else will, they may want to, but only you have that power. Some of you may know that about a year and a half ago, I relocated to McKinney, TX from San Diego and shortly there after had my daughter. Needless to say all these changes in my life put things with my photography business on hold. About 1o months ago, I was ready to change that but the business didn’t come. I didn’t get it. Starting my business in San Diego came much easier and I guess I had underestimated the DFW Wedding Photography scene. I knew there would be amazing photographers and that it wouldn’t be easy to start all over again, I just hadn’t assumed it would be more competitive than Southern California. When it didn’t happen, I felt really low. You guys, it pained me to the point of feeling embarrassed to even tell others that I was a Dallas Wedding Photographer because I had zip, zero weddings booked here.
So let’s fast forward now to July 2015. I can’t say I had some miracle type solution, because I didn’t and things are still coming in day by day. But I am now confident in myself when I tell people that I am a DFW Wedding Photographer based out of McKinney, TX. I didn’t give up. I continued to put myself out there. I hustled but at the same time didn’t sell myself out for less than I felt I was worth. I think sometimes we all have slumps, no matter what industry we are in and it’s important to focus on the positives and keep going. I’m glad I did. I’ve shot some beyond gorgeous weddings this Spring and I still have some of those to share with you guys. I’ve meet some beautiful brides, some I now call friends. And in just a few short weeks, I will get to start this journey again as we head in Fall. Thirty-one is good and to celebrate, I rewarded myself by reaching out to a fellow photographer to participate this styled equestrian wedding session.
It was a pleasure photographing Grace, Aj and all of their horses. I enjoyed meeting them and several other talented, local photographers. I also got to meet some really awesome vendors including; Loft 22, Unique Creations by Amalia and SN Makeup and hair (see the links at the bottom). They were the backbone of giving this session all it’s pretty little details and I’m happy now to share them with you.
